THE CHALLENGES
In the coming decades, the Swiss energy infrastructure faces a massive transformation driven by the decarbonization of energy demand and by the proliferation of renewable – often distributed – energy sources. Climate change is expected to expose Switzerland to prolonged drought periods and extreme precipitation events. And information, communication and artificial intelligence technologies are expected to become increasingly interlinked with the energy system.
OPTIONS FOR ACTION
The RECIPE consortium works to foster a sustainable and resilient energy future aligned with Switzerland’s energy and climate policy goals. It studies the country’s risks associated with the energy transition and climate change over the next 30 years, and proposes measures to enhance resilience.
