SUMMARY:Building a resilient energy transition for Switzerland: how do we get there?
DESCRIPTION:The RECIPE consortium brought together over 60 Swiss stakeholders at ETH Zürich for its first workshop. The workshop marked an important step toward building participatory research and will contribute to shape RECIPE’s way forward.\n \nTogether\, we reflected on the risks and challenges of the energy transition\, and explored relevant hazards\, vulnerabilities\, criticalities\, and potential measures from multiple perspectives. \nKey reflections from the panel discussion: \n\nExtreme events are increasing in frequency and intensity\, creating more imbalances and higher costs. \nA successful energy transition must support prosperity — the two are interconnected. \nBuilding resilience comes at a cost\, and it is essential to assess what constitutes a reasonable cost and how it should be shared within the Swiss economy and society. \nTo build a resilient energy future for Switzerland\, we must work together — across systems\, markets\, and society. \n\n\n- \nProgramme\n09:00\nWelcome caffee \n09:30\nRECIPE – What is it about?\nPresentation \n09:50\nRisks and challenges associated with the energy transition \nSpeakers: \n\nRaffaele Bornatico\, Specialist Section Networks and Europe\, Federal Electricity Commission (ElCom)\nSecurity of Electricity Supply – Winter and Summer Challenges\nHans-Peter Binder\, Specialist Critical Infrastructure Protection\, National Emergency Operations Centre\, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Protection (FOCP)\nIdentification and Protection of Critical Infrastructure\nLukas Federer\, Deputy Head Infrastructure\, Energy & Environmental Policy\, economiesuisse\nClean\, Reliable\, Affordable – Energy Supply Requirements of the Swiss Economy\n\n11:00\nBreak \n11:15\nGroup discussions\, part l: From hazards to risks\nThemes: \n\nBulk power system (generation and transmission) \nPower distribution and distributed resources \nGas infrastructure (incl. future gases\, such as hydrogen or synthetic methane) \nIntegration in European network \nICT system\n\nEconomy – industry and services \nSociety (individuals\, politics\, government\, associations\, media) \nVital resources (water\, food\, medical products) \n\nSelected questions to discuss:\nFrom your perspective… \n\nWhich hazards might endanger the energy system throughout the energy transition?\nWhich components of the energy system are the most critical?\nHow can energy disturbances propagate to the Swiss society and economy?\n\n12:30\nLunch break \n13:30\nGroup discussions\, part ll: From risks to resilience\nSelected questions to discuss:\nFrom your perspective… \n\nWhich measures could enhance resilience?\nWhere do you see the most valuable contributions from RECIPE?\n\n14:15\nConsolidation of discussions in larger group  \n14:45\nSummary and closing
